Jeremy Allaire: Circle's Focus is on Digital Dollars, Not Bitcoin
Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire stated in an interview with CNBC that his interest is not related to Bitcoin prices but is focused on digital dollars and the infrastructure for an economy where AI agents will perform a significant portion of operations. Allaire noted that stablecoins, unlike Bitcoin, are designed to maintain a value around $1 and are not subject to speculative volatility. He also pointed to the increase in activity on blockchains such as Arc, launched by Circle in September. Allaire believes that AI agents will gradually take on more economic functions, increasing the demand for digital dollars and specialized blockchains. The regulatory landscape for the sector is changing: the OCC is preparing final rules for the GENIUS Act, which defines the issuance process for dollar stablecoins. Allaire emphasized that the new regulations affect Circle as the issuer of USD Coin (USDC), requiring companies to hold reserves no less than the amount of issued tokens and to ensure redemption at par within two business days. He also noted that the midterm elections do not threaten the GENIUS Act, as the law has received support from both parties.
