Senator Blumenthal investigates Tether payments to Bo Hines-linked firm
Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal has initiated an investigation into allegations that Tether, a stablecoin issuer, made payments to Nxum Group, a consulting firm associated with former White House crypto policy adviser Bo Hines. On October 22, Blumenthal, who leads the U.S. Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, sent letters to both Tether and Nxum Group requesting clarification on the transactions. The investigation follows claims that Tether paid significant consulting fees to the family-owned Nxum Group while Hines was serving as a crypto policy adviser. Previous reports indicated that Nxum Group provided consulting services to Tether and received substantial payments during Hines' tenure, during which he was involved in shaping stablecoin policy relevant to Tether's operations.
