The cross-chain interoperability protocol Rome, built on Solana, plans to launch the token ROME. Users will need to hold ROME to pay for gas fees when trading on Rome's own chain. The protocol will charge a small fee for each transaction on every driving chain, with half of the revenue retained in ROME or used to purchase ROME on the open market, entering a reserve that will not be sold. This reserve will grow with the activity volume of all Rome driving chains. The token launch date has not yet been determined. Rome has completed $9 million in funding, with investors including Portal Ventures, Hack VC, HashKey, Anagram, and Robot Ventures.
