Michael Saylor Wants Banks to Lend Against Bitcoin
Michael Saylor wants American banks to be able to hold Bitcoin and grant loans by accepting the cryptocurrency as collateral. He calls for a relaxation of the rules that hinder banks and insurers in this sector. According to him, Bitcoin needs to be more integrated into the traditional financial system to establish itself as a digital commodity and digital capital. Saylor believes this could mobilize $100 billion in bank credit backed by BTC, equivalent to 10 years of new Bitcoin production. Currently, this amount corresponds to about 1.2 million BTC, while the network produces nearly 164,000 new Bitcoins each year. He thinks that integrating BTC into traditional credit circuits would promote its adoption and strengthen its role as a financial asset. The price of Bitcoin has decreased by 1.41% over 24 hours, to $82,780, which is 34.4% below its record of $126,116 reached on October 6, 2025. Saylor also advocates for the development of digital credit, allowing investors to gain exposure to the Bitcoin ecosystem through various means. He warns that the proliferation of financially fragile actors could undermine confidence in the sector.
