Foreign Investors Sell 176 Trillion KRW of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix This Year
Foreign investors have continued to sell Korean stocks, with a cumulative net sell of 203.6977 trillion KRW (approximately 141.5 billion USD) in the KOSPI main board market as of the previous trading day. Among these, the net sell amounts for Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix were approximately 176 trillion KRW, accounting for 86% of the total foreign sell-off. The foreign ownership ratio of Samsung Electronics has dropped to a new low since 2008, while SK Hynix's foreign ownership rate has also fallen below the ten-year average. This round of foreign withdrawal is a key driver of the decline in the KOSPI index. Multiple factors, including heightened geopolitical risks in the Middle East, revenue disputes at OpenAI, and increased competitiveness of foreign companies, are suppressing the market.
