False Information About CLARITY Act Vote on the 13th
False information is spreading on social media platform X that the CLARITY Act is set to be voted on in the U.S. Senate on the 13th. French Hill, the chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, has mentioned the possibility of legislation within the year, increasing confusion among investors. On the 13th, posts circulated on X claiming that senators would unveil the final amendments to the bill and that a vote was scheduled for Tuesday. However, this refers to the content of amendments that were already made public on September 14, which failed to pass in the Senate procedural vote with 49 votes in favor and 50 against. According to the official Senate schedule, only a formal meeting is planned for 3:30 PM on October 13, and there is no voting schedule for the CLARITY Act. Some accounts are impersonating politicians to spread false information, which could impact investor sentiment. Chairman French Hill emphasized the need for a legislative solution and hopes for the bill's passage after the November midterm elections.
