DeepSigma launches RWA perpetuals demo with 77 traditional markets
DeepSigma has unveiled a decentralized perpetual futures trading platform with a live paper-trading demo covering 77 real-world asset markets, including U.S. stocks, indexes, commodities and Treasury yields.
Summary
- DeepSigma has unveiled a decentralized RWA perpetuals platform with a live paper trading demo covering 77 traditional financial markets.
- The exchange runs on Cypherium and has been developed by a team with experience at Goldman Sachs, Citadel Securities, Google and Uber.
- Supported markets include U.S. equities, major stock indexes, sector ETFs, commodities and Treasury yields, with contracts tracking external market prices.
- DeepSigma is developing risk controls and privacy focused eligibility checks using zero knowledge proofs as part of its U.S. regulatory preparations.
According to the company's Oct. 13 announcement shared with crypto.news, the exchange runs on the Cypherium Layer 1 blockchain and has been developed by a team with experience at Goldman Sachs, Citadel Securities, Google and Uber.
The platform is designed to bring crypto-style perpetual futures trading to traditional financial assets without requiring traders to own the underlying securities or commodities.
DeepSigma's contracts use external market prices to provide long and short exposure. Unlike tokenized assets, the contracts do not involve taking custody of the stocks, commodities or other instruments they track.
The company has made its paper-trading terminal available for demonstration, while its infrastructure is being developed with U.S. regulatory requirements in mind. DeepSigma said it is working with specialized digital asset legal counsel as part of its preparations.
Sky Guo, DeepSigma's CEO and the founder of Cypherium, said the differences between crypto and traditional financial markets require a separate approach to derivatives trading.
"Real-world markets have different trading hours, liquidity conditions, pricing sources and regulatory considerations," Guo said.
DeepSigma supports 77 RWA perpetual markets in its trading demo
The current demonstration covers several categories of traditional financial instruments, with major U.S. equities among the available markets.
Index contracts track the S&P 500, Dow Jones Industrial Average, Nasdaq Composite, Russell 2000 and VIX.
Traders can access paper-trading markets linked to S&P sector exchange-traded funds, along with commodities such as WTI and Brent crude oil, gold, silver, natural gas and copper. U.S. Treasury yields form another category of supported contracts.
Unlike cryptocurrency markets, which generally operate around the clock, traditional exchanges close overnight, during weekends and on certain holidays. Prices can continue changing in related markets during those closures, creating difficulties for perpetual futures contracts that remain open.
DeepSigma said its infrastructure accounts for these differences through a risk management system that uses pricing data from multiple external sources.
Its proposed safeguards include mark-price calculations designed to limit short-term price manipulation, position limits, exposure controls and circuit breakers.
Partial liquidation mechanisms are intended to reduce positions when margin requirements are breached, while an insurance mechanism is being developed to handle stressed market conditions.
The exchange uses a central limit order book, supported by a separate clearing layer responsible for positions, collateral, margin and settlement.
Guo said maintaining orderly markets during trading closures and periods of low liquidity was one of the main technical challenges.
"The hardest part of bringing real-world assets on-chain isn't creating another market symbol," he said, pointing to the difficulties of managing external price movements when the underlying market is closed.
The trading terminal combines market data, technical indicators, asset-specific news and portfolio tracking with a competitive leaderboard.
An AI Market Analysis Desk can examine market conditions and generate potential trading strategies. DeepSigma said the tool operates entirely off-chain and has no permission to execute trades or transfer user assets.
DeepSigma develops privacy-based eligibility checks for U.S. compliance
As part of its regulatory preparations, DeepSigma is developing a decentralized identity system that would allow users to prove they meet trading requirements without disclosing their personal information publicly on the blockchain.
The proposed system uses zero-knowledge proofs to verify eligibility while keeping the underlying identity data private.
DeepSigma describes the approach as "prove eligibility, not identity," with the goal of combining regulatory compliance with the privacy features of decentralized trading.
The company has not disclosed a date for the full trading launch or specified which U.S. regulatory approvals it intends to seek. Its announcement describes the current product as a paper-trading demonstration, not a live exchange offering real-money trading.
Interest in RWA derivatives has grown across decentralized exchanges. In September, crypto.news reported that RWA perpetual DEX trading volume reached $365 billion in the third quarter of 2026, with public equities accounting for approximately $175 billion.
Other trading platforms have introduced similar instruments. Ondo Finance introduced its Ondo Network in July with Ondo Perps as its first application, supporting perpetual futures tied to equities and commodities.
In September, Polymarket launched perpetual futures trading across 10 initial markets, including cryptocurrencies, equity indexes and commodities, with leverage of up to 20 times for eligible international users.
Cypherium blockchain uses patented consensus technology
DeepSigma's underlying infrastructure runs on Cypherium, an open, permissionless Layer 1 blockchain founded by Guo.
The network combines Proof-of-Work with a Byzantine Fault Tolerant consensus mechanism derived from HotStuff.
According to the announcement, Cypherium has been designed to process hundreds of thousands of transactions per second to support high-frequency financial activity. The figure is a stated design capability, and the company did not provide independently verified throughput results for DeepSigma.
Cypherium holds four granted U.S. patents covering blockchain consensus and related technology, identified as U.S. Patent Nos. 12,443,569, 11,907,174, 11,516,006 and 11,411,721.
Guo is a named inventor on the patented technology. He previously co-authored DLT Options for CBDC with Thomas Moser of the Swiss National Bank and has spoken at the United Nations Headquarters and Nasdaq.
DeepSigma's leadership includes Albert Xu as chief financial officer, Chaoran Wang as chief technology officer and Jenny Chen as chief quant director.
Xu previously worked as a fixed income, currencies and commodities portfolio manager at Goldman Sachs and has founded technology companies.
Wang is a former engineer at Google and Uber who founded quantitative trading firm UmiUmi.
Chen previously worked at Citadel Securities as a quantitative macro trader and was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 Finance list.
Guo said the company's development combines traditional financial market experience with blockchain infrastructure, with particular attention to the trading and risk requirements of real-world derivatives.
