Strategy acquires 175,000 bitcoins, ETFs return to positive balance
Strategy added over 175,000 units of bitcoin to its treasury during 2026. ETFs returned to a positive balance after significant outflows in May and June. The influx of money into the sector is not enough to determine its effect on the market. Corporate purchases generate direct demand for bitcoin (BTC), while funding rounds provide resources to companies and futures allow positioning on the price without acquiring the currency. This difference became more evident throughout 2026. In the early months, corporate treasuries and venture capital concentrated much of the activity; from the third quarter onwards, exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and derivatives regained prominence.
