FOMC Minutes, and TOKEN2049 Set the Tone | WEEX Weekly Market Hotspot Preview (October 5-October 9, 2026)
Key Themes This Week
The key macro trade this week is less about fresh inflation data and more about whether services activity, FOMC minutes, and consumer sentiment reinforce a “resilient growth, elevated rates” backdrop. In AI, Applied Digital earnings will test whether AI data-center and high-performance computing demand is still translating into real delivery. In crypto, Glamsterdam Sepolia activation and TOKEN2049 will track Ethereum’s technical roadmap and institutional-flow narratives. Strong services and consumer data could keep QQQ, BTC, and ETH under yield pressure; softer data could reopen a risk-asset repair window.
October 5 | Monday
ISM Services PMI: services demand and prices set the opening macro tone | ★★★★☆
ISM Services PMI will provide the week’s first major read on services demand, orders, employment, and price pressure. Strong business activity and prices could reinforce the “resilient growth, elevated rates” trade and pressure QQQ, while softer data could ease upward pressure on yields.
Potential Trading Instruments:
Spot: QQQ-USDT
Futures: QQQ-USDT
October 6 | Tuesday
Glamsterdam Sepolia activation puts ETH’s technical roadmap in focus | ★★★☆☆
Glamsterdam will activate on Sepolia, testing protocol changes such as ePBS, block-level access lists, and gas-pricing adjustments ahead of later roadmap milestones. The event is more of an ecosystem-confidence catalyst than an immediate price trigger, but a smooth test could support ETH’s medium-term scaling narrative.
Potential Trading Instruments:
Spot: ETH-USDT
Futures: ETH-USDT
October 7 | Wednesday | Key Trading Day
FOMC minutes: rate-path divergence enters a repricing window | ★★★★★
FOMC minutes will reveal more detail on how policymakers discussed inflation, growth, labor, and the forward policy path. A higher-for-longer tone could keep long-end yields elevated and pressure QQQ, BTC, and ETH; a more balanced tone could support valuation repair across growth and crypto assets.
Potential Trading Instruments:
Spot: QQQ-USDT, BTC-USDT, ETH-USDT
Futures: QQQ-USDT, BTC-USDT, ETH-USDT
Applied Digital FY2027 Q1 earnings: AI data-center demand faces validation | ★★★★☆
Applied Digital will report FY2027 Q1 results for the period ended August 31, with the market focused on high-performance computing data-center delivery, lease progress, financing capacity, and capex timing. Stronger order visibility and delivery commentary could extend the AI infrastructure trade; weaker financing or buildout signals could pressure high-valuation names.
Potential Trading Instruments:
Futures: APLD-USDT
TOKEN2049 opens, putting institutional flows and on-chain finance in focus | ★★★☆☆
TOKEN2049 will concentrate market attention on trading platforms, stablecoins, institutional adoption, on-chain finance, payments, and infrastructure. Large partnerships, allocation signals, or compliance-infrastructure updates could support sentiment in BTC and ETH.
Potential Trading Instruments:
Spot: BTC-USDT, ETH-USDT
Futures: BTC-USDT, ETH-USDT
October 8 | Thursday
PepsiCo Q3 earnings: consumer resilience and cost pressure face a fresh test | ★★★☆☆
PepsiCo will report third-quarter results for the period ended September 5, with attention on beverage and snack demand, pricing power, volume trends, and margin performance. Stable revenue mix and guidance could support defensive consumer sentiment; weaker volume or margin pressure could weigh on confidence in consumption resilience.
Potential Trading Instruments:
Spot: SPY-USDT
Futures: SPY-USDT
October 9 | Friday
Delta Q3 earnings: travel demand and fuel costs enter the spotlight | ★★★★☆
Delta will report third-quarter results, with the market focused on passenger revenue, unit revenue, fuel costs, margins, and forward bookings. Resilient demand with manageable fuel pressure could support cyclical consumer and travel-linked trades; cost pressure that erodes margins could weigh on risk appetite.
Potential Trading Instruments:
Spot: SPY-USDT
Futures: SPY-USDT
Michigan consumer sentiment preliminary reading: expectations and inflation views close the week | ★★★★☆
The preliminary Michigan consumer sentiment reading will test how households view current conditions, future expectations, and inflation. Further weakness could revive concerns about cooling demand, while firmer inflation expectations could limit room for lower yields and pressure QQQ, BTC, and ETH.
Potential Trading Instruments:
Spot: QQQ-USDT, BTC-USDT, ETH-USDT
Futures: QQQ-USDT, BTC-USDT, ETH-USDT
