Financial Services Agency Publishes List of Unregistered Cryptocurrency Exchanges
On the 7th, the Financial Services Agency (FSA) published a dedicated page summarizing the names and details of businesses engaged in cryptocurrency exchange without registration. The new page lists three domestic operators and 22 overseas operators, detailing their names, locations, business activities, and the date of publication. The most recent addition is Hong Kong's Izakaya Limited, which operates the cryptocurrency trading service "IZAKA-YA," added in September. Bybit Fintech Limited, which operates Bybit, has been listed three times: in May 2021, March 2023, and November 2024. To buy, sell, or manage cryptocurrencies targeting residents of Japan, registration under the Payment Services Act is required, and warnings are issued to unregistered operators. The FSA cautions that the published information reflects the status at the time of the warning issuance and does not indicate the current operational status.
