「Fed Oracle」: Bousquet Continues Publicly Criticizing Powell, Aiming to Ensure His Departure from the Fed in May
BlockBeats News, January 21st, Wall Street Journal reporter Nick Timiraos, also known as the "Fed Whisperer," wrote that recently, Kevin Warsh has continued to publicly criticize current Fed Chair Powell. Warsh stated in an interview with CNBC yesterday that Powell should not attend the oral arguments of Fed Governor Lael Brainard's case on Wednesday, as he believes Powell will try to "favor" the Fed.
Nick Timiraos suggested that before Warsh publicly criticized Powell, the Justice Department had launched an investigation into the Fed, which made Warsh uneasy. Warsh is concerned that this investigation will complicate the Trump administration's efforts to confirm Powell's successor. Additionally, Warsh also needs to ensure that Powell resigns from the Board of Governors after his term as Fed Chair ends in May.
